Casio G-Shock DW-5600UE-1V
About $55–$110
This remains the default hard-use digital. Shock resistance, 200m water resistance, long service history, and simple controls make it the practical answer when a watch has to survive drops, wet work, and daily abuse. We keep it as the primary pick even with a proprietary band because nothing else matches the toughness-to-price ratio as cleanly.
Honest cons: Proprietary G-Shock band system — not standard 18/20/22mm spring bars. Square digital styling is polarizing. Battery changes are less convenient than solar quartz. If strap modularity matters more than max shock rating, use the runner-up instead.
Runner-up: Casio W-800H-1AV — Best non-proprietary alternative we trust: 100m WR, tough digital tool watch, and standard 18mm spring bars so you can run Legion nylon/rubber straps. Less shock-rated than a G-Shock, but far better for strap modularity. (paid link)
